Regional Art Exhibition

Parrsboro Creative welcomes visual artists to submit their work to be a core feature in a new arts festival – 10 DAYS IN OCTOBER.

This Regional Exhibition will take place in multiple venues throughout Parrsboro from October 1 to October 10. The exhibits will be open to the public from 1:00 to 5:00 pm each day with Art Walks that also occur on a daily basis at 2:00 pm.

Visual artists from a variety of disciplines are encouraged to apply: painting (in all styles), sculptors, printmakers, and fibre artists.

Eligibility
Open to all artists 18 years and older.

Selections will be made through a juried process. Successful Artists will be notified of their acceptance by MONDAY SEPT 25. Those accepted will be provided with all event details.

APPLICATION PROCESS
1. Fill in and Submit the Application Form
2. Send two images of work via the application form. The work must have been accomplished in the previous eighteen months
3. Once the two images have been received you’ll receive a confirmation notice.

- Each image should be in jpeg format and sized to AT LEAST 1000 pixels at their largest dimension (height or width).
- Each image must be no more than 2MB
- Images should represent the original artwork with no enhancements with photoshop or similar programs other than minor lighting corrections and re-sizing.
- Send full image, do not include frame, just the image.
- Identify each jpeg image as follows: Your Last Name, then First Name, followed by the item (e.g., Smith_John_1, Smith_John_2, Smith_John_3)
- For each image, identify – dimensions, medium, sale price & hst amount

By entering the 2018 Parrsboro International Plein Air Festival I affirm that I have read the entire prospectus and I agree to be bound by all terms outlined in it. If I am accepted, I understand that I am expected to participate in both the Plein Air painting competition and the exhibit and sale. My paintings, which I submit for judging, sale and exhibition, must be priced with a retail price commensurate with my normal pricing structure. A 40% commission on all works sold will be retained by the Parrsboro Creative Council and all sales will be handled by representatives of Parrsboro International Plein Air Festival at Parrsboro NS. Images of work that I enter into the competition as well as photos taken of me painting in the field may be used by Parrsboro International Plein Air Festival for publicity purposes. All reasonable precautions will be taken to ensure the safety and careful handling of the artwork. However, I recognize that I alone am responsible for the safety of my artwork. Licensing will be solely for the purpose of promoting the Parrsboro International Plein Air Festival at Parrsboro NS. We reserve the right to disqualify any entry that does not adhere to the rules and guidelines of the contest, mainly that the work shall be the artist’s work that is completed on site without the use of photography.
