This year, we are waiving application fees to better support artists and writers in their creative practice.

Why stay and create in Parrsboro?

A small but mighty rural community nestled into the Minas Basin and Bay of Fundy, Parrsboro is a hidden gem off of the Northern Shores of Nova Scotia. It is known as the ultimate eco-cultural tourist destination, boasting over 25 different waterfalls within the vicinity, with easy access to beaches that are loaded with fossils and history at every turn.

Who can apply?

• Visual artists, craft artists and writers in Atlantic Canada.
  We strongly encourage emerging artists to apply!

What is included in the Artist-in-Residence Program at Parrsboro Creative?

• $300 CAD Weekly Stipend

• 2 Weeks of Paid Studio Space and Shared Access at Art Lab Studios & Gallery

• 2 Weeks of Billeted or if available, Private Accommodation

What is expected of the Artist-in-Residence?

• The Artist-in-Residence is encouraged to interact with the public during Art Lab’s open hours and will be briefed on security measures by members at Art Lab.

• At the end of the residency, the Artist-in-Residence will either have a showcase of their work in-progress or in completion at their designated studio space
  OR
  The Artist-in-Residence will demonstrate their medium/artwork/technique or host a talk or workshop at the Parrsboro Bandstand for two hours over a weekend day.

• The Artist-in-Residence will share their progress on social media, tagging or making it shareable with Parrsboro Creative.
