Together we deliver an annual course calendar of programs in different facilities to showcase art, craft and culture in the one of the most beautiful areas found in Nova Scotia. It’s part of Parrsboro Creative’s vision of developing the area’s cultural economy through the creation and enhancement of a community or artists and artisans that will rejuvenate the community, once a thriving shipbuilding area.

We are looking for artists of all disciplines to make their proposals, not only visual artists but musicians, dancers, thespians, and authors alike will be considered with great enthusiasm and respect.

Description

Parrsboro Creative is looking to stay active and involved in the community through the winter months and beyond through events and gatherings, and the office would deeply benefit from the help of volunteers who are energetic, well-connected in the Parrsboro Shore community, and able to assist with event production tasks.

Parrsboro Creative is a not-for-profit art organization located in a growing rural community on the spectacular Minas Basin & Bay of Fundy and the largest plein air festival organizer in Canada, awarding cash and product prizes to winning competitors from all over North America. Parrsboro Creative also runs the Cultural Campus from May to October annually, partnering with affiliate organizations to offer seasonal, cultural courses and workshops in various artistic disciplines.

Key opportunities for engagement include, but are not limited to:

Event Generation

  • Assisting the Executive Direction in creative ideation:

What would work well for the community?

What do Parrsborians need right now?

How can we make it happen?

The events volunteers get to be involved in all of this, and make happen the events they’ve been dreaming about for years!

Event Marketing

  • Digital marketing: “share” posts made by the Digital/Social Media volunteer

  • Print advertising: help put up posters around town

  • Word-of-mouth advertising: spread the word!

Event Production

  • Planning details e.g. event shopping list

  • Helping to put on the event

  • Participating in the activities

  • Making attendees feel welcome

  • Helping the ED to “put out fires” if issues come up
