Jeff Maluske

Jeff Maluske grew up in Desboro, Ontario and served in the military for 11 years. After his retirement from the army, he combined his lifelong passion for weaponry with his creative therapy as a bladesmith and leatherworker.

He now lives in Great Village, Nova Scotia and has continued to practise his craft for over 20 years at his modified home-studio. He makes all the components of the knives, from the blade to handle to sheath. He specializes in filleting, hunting and chef’s knives, but also makes leather goods like wallets, belts and pet collars.

In addition to working with both scrap and stock steel, he complements his blades with handles that are hand-formed out of mammoth teeth, domestic and exotic hardwoods. He customizes his sheaths to fit each of his one-of-a-kind knives by wet-molding the leather and includes decorative elements such as sting-ray, fish and snake skins.
