Parrsboro International Plein Air Festival 2022 Another Smashing Success!

Internationally acclaimed and award-winning artist Durre Waseem from California has been declared to have the Best in Show during the Parrsboro International Plein Air Festival Collector’s Gala. Orange at High Tide is a piece that highlights the beauty to be experienced in Advocate and surrounding areas. Waseem did fine work visible in the usage of contrasts and expressive brush strokes - her award is well earned.

Orange at High Tide was painted in Advocate throughout the duration of the PIPAF festivities. There Waseem had a gorgeous view of the seaside where she was able to gather inspiration. What locals are accustomed has been transformed into a masterpiece showing us just how lucky we truly are to be living in Mi`kma`ki | Nova Scotia among nature.

Durre Waseem is an artist who studied the Fine Arts at Punjab University in Pakistan. Since 2018 she has been making a name for herself participating in various festivals and we are fortunate to have her in attendance at PIPAF 2022. For those who wish to see the Best in Show of PIPAF 2022 starting on the 15th you may visit Orange at High Tide hanging in the provincial capital at Zwicker’s Gallery Halifax, NS 5415 Doyle Street from July 15th-30th.

Making the decision to award Durre Waseem was not a simple one and Chantal Julien, our judge, was tasked with a difficult job. Unfortunately, there could be only one Best in Show. That said a warm congratulations is very much in order for Second Best in Show Michael Brennan with Mainstreet a well-done rendition of Parrsboro’s iconic main thoroughfare.
