Celebrating Art and Nature: Parrsboro, Nova Scotia Hosts 8th Annual International Plein Air Festival
Parrsboro, Nova Scotia - April 15, 2024 - The picturesque town of Parrsboro, nestled along the stunning shores of Nova Scotia, is set to host the highly anticipated 8th Annual Parrsboro International Plein Air Festival (PIPAF) from June 19 to 23. This immersive celebration of art and nature brings together 30 talented artists from around Canada and the USA to capture the beauty of the region’s landscapes en plein air. A juried competition with the largest purse in Canada PIPAF draws art collectors from all over.
The festival, organized by Parrsboro Creative, promises an enchanting experience for both artists and attendees alike. Against the backdrop of the Fundy Shore’s breathtaking coastal scenery and charming historic architecture, artists will take to their easels to paint outdoors, capturing the essence of the region in real time.
PIPAF celebrates the rich tradition of plein air painting, a technique favoured by artists for its ability to convey the unique atmosphere and light of a particular place. Attendees can expect to witness artists in action, as they create works inspired by the rugged coastline, rolling hills, and vibrant coastal communities of Nova Scotia.
Highlights of the 8th Annual International Plein Air Festival include:
• Artist Workshop: Renowned artist and PIPAF judge, Richard Sneary, will lead a workshop following the festival sharing his expertise and techniques with aspiring plein air painters.
Live Painting Demonstrations: Visitors can observe the artists at work throughout the festival, gaining insight into their creative process and artistic vision.
• Art Exhibitions: The festival will feature exhibitions at The Hall and Art Lab showcasing the works of participating artists, providing an opportunity for attendees to admire and purchase original artworks.
• Community Engagement: PIPAF has partnered with local businesses and organizations to host this event, including an awards ceremony on the 22nd and a Quick Draw event open to everyone on the final day.
